UP police develops cold feet after DGP lands to Bijnore

Published on:

Despite rounding-up the shooter and mastermind of the grisly killing of NIA officer Tanzil Ahmed, the UP Police suddenly developed a cold feet soon after DGP, Javeed Ahmed landed in Bijnore and visted the crime scene at Sahaspur village.

The decision to unravel the murder mystery has been delayed as the victim's family expressed reservation to the theory floated by the probe agencies. The family strongly insisted that the killing was a result of action taken by the officer against terror groups and not due to his personal enmity with criminals.

The Bijnore Police is now trying to convince the family with facts which surfaced during the probe. Sources said that even if the family disagrees, the investigators are set to go ahead with the findings though later, to avoid taking the blemish of working out the case in a jiffy.

"We have some important leads after quizzing over a hundred suspects in the last few days. Several teams were camping in Bijnore, Delhi, Aligarh, Bareilly etc and efforts are underway to detain and quiz suspects or summon those who can help crack the case. But nothing concrete could be said at the moment,” asserted DGP Javeed Ahmad after reviewing the probe. Intesrtingly, the top cops also ruled out any arrests being made so far negating claims of Bijnore Police that two youths were arrested in this conection on Thursday.

The DGP said that the police were in no hurry to work out the case in a hurry. "There is no time limit for the probe. The police is quizzing all suspects named by the slain officer's family. The team is on the job and once we are convinced with the findings, we will share the facts,” said Ahmed.

Meanwhile the Bijnore police which had reportedly picked up all three suspects - Reyan, Munir and an aide, continued to grill them to extract information on the murder weapons - a .9mm pistol and a .32 bore revolver. The police had earlier claimed to have recovered a bike used in the commissionof crime.

By recovering the murder weapons and piece together the sequence of event on the fateful day through the sessions of sustained quizzing, the Bijnore Police wants to satisfy the Central probe agencies and also the family members. It is believed that only then would the media be briefed about cracking the case.

Sources further said that the revelations coming up durin quizzing might be damning for the slain officer and might no go well with his family members, and hence the family might go ahead to demand a probe by a Central agency.
