Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Uttar Pradesh was now safe for women and they could step out of their homes without fear and pursue their ambitions.

Addressing a virtual rally in Mathura, Agra and Bulandshahr, the prime minister said that the ‘nari shakti’ of Uttar Pradesh had decided to make Yogi Adityanath the chief minister once again.

"Uttar Pradesh is the heart of India; it is the heartbeat. Uttar Pradesh has always shown direction to the country. And today again Uttar Pradesh is showing a new path to the country. Only they will get the blessings of the people, who will serve the people of the state by becoming a worker with the spirit of service and improve the condition of the people," Modi said.

"Today in UP, sisters and daughters are saying that earlier they used to feel afraid to leave their homes, but now criminals shiver under the Bharatiya Janata Party government. UP is now safe for girls and women. Young women can now step out without fear and pursue their ambitions," he added.

The prime minister further said that the people of Bulandshahr know very well what used to happen to women and daughters on the middle of the highways. "During the previous government, the spirits of criminals were so high that vehicles were robbed by stopping them on the highway. People of Bulandshahr know very well what used to happen to women and daughters on these highways. Back then, the illegal occupation of houses and shops were common in Uttar Pradesh. People were forced to leave their homes and migrate. You know very well who patronised the perpetrators of the Agra riots," the prime minister said.

Modi further said that the people of the state were clear in their minds that no matter how much politics some people do on the basis of wealth, muscle power, casteism, communalism etc, they cannot get their love.

“Places of religious interest were forgotten by the previous regime and after BJP`s development works, they are now seeing Gods in their dreams. The earlier governments were engaged in creating fear because it suited them. We are building the future. Now record highways are being built and people are travelling fearlessly on those highways," he said.

"Earlier, the government meant one family. For the BJP, the entire UP is a family. Under the Yogi government, 85,000 houses for the poor were constructed in Mathura, Agra and Bulandshahr region. Over 7.5 lakh cooking gas connections were also provided. In this budget, the government has also made provision for about Rs 50,000 crore for the poor who do not have a house in Uttar Pradesh. In the BJP government, whether Dalit, marginalised, underprivileged, poor or women or be it businessmen, everyone have got the benefit of every scheme,” the prime minister said.

Meanwhile on Sunday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that everyone was safe across the state today under the double engine government of the BJP, except the mafia and gangsters.

At the outset of his speech at a public rally at Manth in Mathura, Yogi paid glowing tributes to legendary singer Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar who died of multi organ failure at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Sunday morning and said that she carried forward India’s rich cultural and classical traditions, giving it global recognition.

In a blistering attack on the previous Samajwadi Party government, Yogi said: “They were responsible for two riots in Mathura, which took place at Kosi Kala and Jawahar Bagh. They were responsible for Muzaffarnagar riots and the incidents that took place in Bulandshahr and Agra. They patronised the mafia and gangsters to hide their sins. During their regime, no one was safe because safety was not on their agenda and they were themselves a threat to people’s security. Girls were scared of going to school while business establishments pulled down their shutters at 5 pm in Mathura.”

The chief minister further said: “Today, the rule of law prevails all over the state and change is visible in every sphere of life. Not a single riot has taken place in the last five years while 700 riots took place during the SP government in UP. Farmers’ rights are being protected while women and traders can lead their lives peacefully in a secure environment. Criminals and gangsters are running for their lives while corruption is under control. Bulldozers are running over SP’s friends in the perfume industry to dig out public money that they had looted during their tenures. We are using that recovered money to carry out developmental works in the state.”

Yogi said that the SP government got the opportunity to organise two Kumbh Melas in Prayagraj in 2007 and 2013, which were reduced to a spectacle of filth, lawlessness and stampede whereas the Divya Kumbh and Bhavya Kumbh hosted by the BJP government in 2019 was a grand event that attracted global attention.

“They disrespected Hindu deities and their development was restricted to building a boundary wall of a graveyard. On the other hand, the BJP government built and renovated 700 temples. We are also committed to the development of the entire Braj area and cleaning of Yamuna as we have done in the case of river Ganga,” he added.

Yogi said that the double engine government of the BJP had not only provided free tests and vaccines for COVID-19 to the people, but also a double dose of ration throughout the ongoing pandemic. He said that the government was providing an annual pension of Rs 12,000 to widows, elderly and the differently-abled, which was denied to them during Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party governments.

Urging voters to reject the opposition parties in the polls for terming the vaccine as ‘Modi and BJP vaccine’, Yogi said that the National Democratic Alliance government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given a Ram temple in Ayodhya after 500 years of wait and abolished Article 370 that never allowed Kashmir to be an integral part of India.

Speaking on the occasion, cine actress and BJP MP from Mathura, Hema Malini, said that the election was for the future of Uttar Pradesh, which had transformed into ‘Uttam Pradesh’ under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
