Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati targeted the much-hyped 'UP Investors Summit’ terming it as a total waste of public money in the name of inviting investments in the state. She said that the same funds could have been put to better use for the welfare of the poor and downtrodden sections.
‘The Investors Summits has become a fashion for governments to spend people’s hard-earned money. It could have been put to better use for helping the poor, downtrodden and youth among others,” the BSP chief said.
Terming the Summit as an attempt by the BJP government to divert people’s attention from problems like inflation and unemployment, Mayawati said that it seemed the governments consider holding Summits as the ‘biggest service to the people and the means to resolve all pressing problems’.
The former UP chief minister said that until the law and order situation in the state did not improve, not a single industrialist would look towards the state. She apprehended that like other Investors Summits, the recent one might eventually turn out into a ‘political showbiz’ like the one during Samajwadi Party regime.
Mayawati further attacked the Yogi government on supporting police encounters. “law and order can not improve only through encounters. The government has not taken concrete steps to check ‘jungle raj’ and ‘mafia raj’ created by its own people. It has wrongfully tried to withdraw criminal cases against its leaders and ministers which would further further spoil the law and order situation,” she said.
Stressing that ensuring peace and security was the prime responsibility of any government, Mayawati said that the BJP government has failed as their intentions and policies were guided by hatred, violence, communalism and casteism.
She claimed that the people have lost faith in Prime Minister Modi as well as the state government as the list of their failed promises, including the one of depositing Rs 15 to 20 lakhs in the accounts of all during the 2014 lok Sabha polls, has grown long.
“The government is trying to mislead the people by claiming that MoUs worth crores have been signed. How can any businessmen set up units in all BJP-ruled states to please BJP leaders,” she asked, hile adding that the entire show was nothing but yeet another attempt of the BJP to fool the people before next Parliament elections.
