In a momentous achievement, Uttar Pradesh crossed a major milestone of administering over two crore ‘precaution doses’ on Monday.

Describing the achievement as a result of the hard work of health and frontline workers, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that under the visionary guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, UP achieved success in giving additional protection to people against COVID-19 by administering over two crore ‘precaution doses’.

“This accomplishment is because of the dedication and hard work of our health and frontline workers,” he said.

The chief minister urged the eligible citizens to strengthen the fight against the pandemic and contribute towards a ‘Coronavirus-mukt’ India by taking the precaution dose at the earliest.

As a result of the successful execution of the ongoing special 75-day ‘Amrit Dose’ campaign in Uttar Pradesh under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state achieved another milestone while continuing to conduct one of the most successful vaccination campaigns in the country since the rollout of the mass immunisation drive.

Committed to providing additional protection to the people against the novel coronavirus, Uttar Pradesh began administering booster shots (precaution dose) from January 10. The state, on July 15, launched a special 75-day special drive to administer precaution doses to all aged 18 years and above at public vaccination centres free of cost.

In pursuance of the directives issued by the chief minister, the authorities concerned are undertaking awareness campaigns regarding the importance of booster doses to encourage every individual above 18 years of age to take booster doses. Through these campaigns, information about vaccination centres where booster shots are being administered is also being provided.

Uttar Pradesh has so far administered over 36.35 crore total Covid vaccine doses. Out of these, about 17,65,18,170 are first doses, while as many as 16,70,77,967 individuals are fully-vaccinated.

Besides, over 2,71,73,327 vaccine doses have been administered to children in the age group of 15-17 and over 1,60,57,198 vaccine doses to children in the age group of 12-14 in the state.

Aggressive vaccination is an integral part of the comprehensive strategy of the Yogi-led UP government to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus, along with adherence to Covid appropriate behaviour and strict surveillance.
