After holding a 36-hour special session of UP legislature to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the UP Assembly has convened another special session on Constitution Day on November 26.
At a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow late Monday night, it was decided to convene a special session on November 26. The main agenda of discussion for the day-long special session will be the Constitution.
“The Chief Minister has directed officials concerned to make preparations for the special session of UP legislature. The proceedings of the special session would be telecast live by Doordarshan,” officials said in Lucknow on Tuesday.
Besides, the government will also organise functions and seminars that day to spread awareness among masses about the Preamble of the Constitution, with special focus on Article 51A.
“All government offices, police stations, educational institutions, offices of local bodies and other institutions would hold and participate in such programmes, so that state employees, policemen, students and others could take a pledge to protect the Constitution of India,” the officials said.
The government has also decided to release booklets on the Preamble of the Constitution and on Article 51A, while all legislators would be given a Constitution.
“Every block, tehsil and district would hold different programmes during the period, while a film would be made to popularise Fundamental Duties enshrined in the Constitution (Article 51A),” they added.
