After naming the ambulance service, old age pension and rural housing after Samajwadi Party, the UP government intends to introduce the `Samajwadi tag’ in education sector too. It proposes to open `Samajwadi Abhinav Schools’ from the academic session 2016-17. The medium of instruction in these schools will be both in Hindi and English, with special emphasis on English.
The schools from Class VI to XII will be opened with the objective of improving teaching standards up to Intermediate level. The schools will be opened in rural areas of 18 districts spread across UP and will be affiliated to the CBSE. The students in these schools will be admitted on the basis of an entrance test. The districts selected for these schools are Agra, Aligarh, Allahabad, Azamgarh, Basti, Gorakhpur, Bareilly, Moradabad, Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Devipatan, Sultanpur, Kannauj, lucknow, Meerut, Saharanpur, Mirzapur, Varanasi, The proposed school in lucknow will be opened at Mohanlalganj.
Principal Secretary, Secondary Education, Jitendra Kumar said in lukcnow that the government is working on a project to set up 191 model schools with public and private participation. He said for Faizabad and Kanpur headquarters no model school has been sanctioned and hence the schools will be opened n Sultanpur of Faizabad division and at Kannauj of Kanpur divisions.
He said that the schools will be under the administrative control of Secondary Education department. Right from class VI to XII, these schools will have two sections for each class. The maximum number of students from class VI to VIII will be 35 while for the rest of t he classes it will be 40. Admission for class VI to VIII will be on first come first serve basis while for class IX to XI, admissions will be made on the basis of an entrance test.
In the first session (2016-17), the schools will operate as non- residential and from the next academic session, these will be upgraded as residential schools.
