The Uttar Pradesh Government has sanctioned Rs. 300 crore as first installment of subsidy to the UP Power Corporation (UPPCl) for ensuring power supply to private tube-wells of farmers . For this purpose, a budgetary provision of Rs. 600 crore has been made.
The aim of the subsidy is to increase farm production.
The State Government has directed the Agriculture Department not to draw the amount in one go and at the same time provide the list of beneficiaries to the government. The Agriculture Department will sanction Rs. 50 crore every month to UPPCl and the next instalment will be released only after receipt of the utilisation certificate regarding subsidy amount sanctioned earlier.
