UP govt failed to utilise Bundelkhand package : Rahul Gandhi

Congress vice- president Rahul Gandhi said that the governments in Uttar Pradesh did not properly utilised the Bundelkhand package given by the previous UPA government for the upliftment of people of the backward region.

"Bundekhand should be seen separately as its need is different. UPA government had given Bundelkhand package but unfortunately it was not used properly by the UP government, " he said while interacting with farmers at the khat Sabha in Banda during his Deoria to Delhi Kisan Yatra.

Blaming the BJP and other political parties trying to put a spanner when the UPA government was giving the loan waiver scheme, he said," BJP and other governments said that we are not doing the right thing by given the farmers a loan waiver scheme as it would affect their habit. But we didn't hear them and the scheme was introduced in a record 10 days time," he claimed.

Rahul said Narendra Modi promised to give 2 crore jobs to the youth but did it happen. He also announced that he will raise the issue of the Anganbari workers in the Parliament.  Claiming that Congress is the only pro-farmers Party, Gandhi said,"Congress brought the land acquisition act by providing all benefits to the farmers, but Narendra Modi government tried all their efforts to end that Act just to benefit the people who are engaged in corruption."

Continuing his attack on the ruling Samajwadi Party in UP, the Congress vice-president said," the condition of bicycle( SP) is very bad and their own leaders are dismantling it for their vested interest."

"Akhilesh has thrown the tyre of the cycle just 100 days before the announcement of the polls in UP." he stated. During his yatra,  Gandhi met freedom fighter  Vishweshwar Bajpai and his family members at Badausa in Banda. He also had his lunch there with the family.
