The Uttar Pradesh Government is still waiting for a reply from Gujarat Government over its protest for removal of UP Rising hoardings put up near Ahmedabad airport and other prominent places in the city in view of on-going Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas (PBD).

“We are still waiting for a response from the Gujarat Government as why it ordered removal of hoardings put up by UP Government after taking prior permission from Ahmadabad Municipal Authority,” Principal Secretary (information) Dr Navneet Sehgal told The Pioneer here on Wednesday.UP Government had put up over 50  ‘UP Rising’ hoardings on the route from Ahmadabad airport to Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas  venue. These were removed without informing UP Government. The agency that had put up those hoardings has also been warned not to put up hoardings again.UP Government has protested this act of Ahmadabad Municipal Authority and had shot off a letter requesting hoardings should be replaced.

Dr Sehgal said that UP Government was within its right to put up hoardings as it is one of the participants of the programme. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is likely to take part in the PBD programme on January 9. Yadav is also likely to interact with prominent NRIs and ask them to invest in the state, said official.Sehgal would be leaving for Ahmedabad on Thursday and will take up the issue with the officials there.According to officials around 150 NRIs of UP origin have already registered themselves for the event, in which the UP government has showcased its initiatives for the welfare of NRIs as well as highlighted government’s agenda for development.

“Our presence is there in the PBD. We have put up a stall. Senior officials of Industries and UP NRI Cell are camping in Ahmadabad and are having discussions with the private investors. The things will take a final shape once Chief Minister reached there,” he said and added: “But no MoU is expected to be signed with investors there.”Uttar Pradesh Government also plans to organize its investors meet in Agra in February, 2015 which would be attended by captains of different industrial houses and NRIs of UP origin who wants to help state in building infrastructure.
