A day after Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi claimed to have advised chief minister and his alliance partner Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav of introducing a separate manifesto for youths, the Party’s state unit announced to roll out their poll agenda here on Wednesday morning.
``General Secretary of the All Indian Congress Committee, Gulam Nabi Azad, who is also incharge of the Party affairs here on Uttar Pradesh, along with state president Raj Babbar will release Party’s manifesto here on Wednesday morning”, revealed Satyadeo Tripathi, the chairman of the UPCC Media Committee. Interestingly, the Party was initially planning to release Minimum Common Program (MCP)in consultation with their alliance partner Samajwadi Party and former cabinet minister Jairam Ramesh and Abhisekh Mishra, the close confident of Akhilesh Yadav had already held discussion in this regard to chart out a poll winning formula of `promises’ but sources confirmed that now Congress will come out with manifesto due to differences on some key points.
A senior Congress leader, who is still hopeful that they along with SP will release MCP, claimed that in case they had to release manifesto than all public welfare related programmes comprising of manifestoes of both the Parties will be deemed to be MCP. He claimed that now first phase of polling in the State is just three days away so they had no time for further discussion with SP leaders hence they decided to release of manifesto on Wednesday.
It may be mentioned that SP chief Akhilesh Yadav had already release Party’s manifesto at least a fortnight back. The Congress poll manifesto would be similar like that of Uttarakhand and could also match with the SP's manifesto. It may be mentioned that while addressing a meeting in Mathura on Monday, besides advocating a separate manifesto for youths to facilitate them all facilities so that they could change the face of this biggest state of the country, Rahul claimed that he already had two issues in his mind – one to ensure job for youths and second to remove fear and hatred from their minds. He also talked of waiver of farmer’s loan.
