After facing one of the worst electoral debacles in the recent Assembly polls, UP Congress has decided to tread the revival path by fighting the coming civic body polls in the state and later strengthen the Youth Congress and other frontal outfits of the party.
To chalk out a strategy, members of both city and district units and senior state leaders living in lucknow have been called for a meeting in luccknow on Saturday. Another meeting of Youth Congress leaders (East Zone) and Right to Information Act (RTI) Wing of the UPCC has been scheduled in lucknow on coming Monday.
UPCC media committee chairperson Satyadeo Tripathi said that state chief Raj Babbar was likely to attend both meetings. However, the Youth Congress meeting will be headed by All Indian Youth Congress general secretary Shreenivasan, who is also the in-charge of UP Youth Congress.
Tripathi said that on April 14, during celebration of Ambedkar Jyanti, party leaders will also discuss the strategy with SC and ST Wing in the presence of Raj Babbar. The state chief will later hold separate meetings with all wings of the UPCC and frontal outfits before giving thrashing out a strategy for boardening the party base here in UP.
Tripathi informed that the party was also gearing up to select candidates for Gorakhpur and Phoolpur Parliamentary constituency which were likely to go for by-polls after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya resign from the seats.
