Demanding a white paper on the funds spent during BJP's  Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's rallies in the country, Uttar Pradesh Congress said that BJP was spending an astronomical amount of Rs 14,000 per person in its last rally held on Sunday.

''If around three lakh people attend Modi's rally in lucknow then BJP would be spending Rs 14,000 per head, while if the attendance is two lakh, then the amount spent would be Rs 20,000 per head as the party is spending over Rs 40 crore on this rally,'' senior UP Congress leader and MlA Akhilesh Pratap Singh said here on Sunday.

Singh demanded a white paper on the funds spent during all rallies in the country. In a statement here, he claimed that around Rs 320 crore have been spent by BJP for eight rallies of Modi in UP alone so far, and in the entire country, the amount would cross Rs 1000 crore.

''People want to know from where BJP has funded such a big amount,'' he said. Giving details about the Rs 40 crore expenditure by BJP in the lucknow rally, the Congress MlA said Rs five crore have been spent for 29 pairs of trains, Rs 10 crore for 5000 buses, Rs 10 crore for 15000 jeeps, cars and other vehicles, besides Rs 15 crore for food, lodging and other arrangements of the rally.

'Modi talks about ending black money and corruption in the country, if people votes him to power. But can he say from where he was spending such huge amount for the rallies,'' the Congress leader questioned.
