UP Congress come out with a 'vision document'

Published on:

To keep in line with the Bharatiya Janta Party, UP Congress, which has released a ‘please all’ list of star campaigners to mellow down resentment within the party, has decided to come out with a ‘vision document’ to counter BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’.

“Senior Congress leaders are busy listing priorities like availability of potable water, sanitation, pollution-free atmosphere, hygiene, education and other civic amenities, and we will come up with a vision document reflecting these issues and we will fulfill them if voted to power in the civic polls,” Congress spokesman Siddharth Priya Srivastava said in lucknow on Monday.

Srivastava said that UPCC chief Raj Babbar and AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad, along with other senior leaders, were likely to release the vision document in lucknow on Tuesday. The day will coincide with India’s first Prime Minister Jawahar lal Nehru’s birth anniversary celebrations.

Meanwhile, following resentment and charges of ticket auction for seats, Congress found itself facing the ire of senior leaders. To mollify the dissenters, Babbar released two lists of star campaigners to please them instead of going for leaders with mass following.

The list includes Congress Working Committee member Ghulam Nabi Azad, state president Raj Babbar, Sachin Pilot, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Jitendra Prasada, RPN Singh, Deepender Singh Hooda, Salman Khurshid, Shree Prakash Jaiswal, Pl Punia, Nirmal Khatri, Sanjay Singh, Parvez Hashmi, Harish Rawat, Naghma, Rajiv Shukla, Ajay Kumar lallu, Ammar Rizvi, Rajesh Mishra, Imran Masood, Meem Afzal, Rashid Alvi, Shakeel Ahmed Khan, Badshah Singh, Dhiru Ram lodhi, Rizwan Zaheer, Ajai Rai, Masood Akhtar, Ram Krishna Dwivedi, Zafar Ali Naqvi, Santosh Singh, Jitendra Singh, Brij lal Khabri, Siraj Mehndi, Akhilesh Pratap Singh, Nadeem Ashraf Zaisi and Masood Ansari. Interestingly, two separate lists were released but to ensure that no one was annoyed, Babbar also included all MlAs and MlCs as star campaigners. Besides, all frontal organisation leaders, AICC secretaries and chairpersons of SC/ST and OBC cells were also named as star campaigners, clearly aiming that no leader was left to be included in the lists.
