UP Congress announce first list for mayor elections

Published on:

Failing to search any potential candidate from prestigious lucknow mayoral seat, Uttar Pradesh Congress finally announced its first list of four candidates for the mayor elections in the state urban local body elections.

Party president Raj Babbar finally claimed that Vinod Bansal would contest from Agra, Ms Vandana Mishra from Kanpur, Shailendra Mani Pandey from Faizabad-Ayodhya and Ms Mamta Sood Balmiki from Meerut.

The Party has also announced candidates for several nagar palika and nagar panchayat chairperson candidates where elections would be held in the first phase on  November 22. The last date for filing of the nominations for the first phase covering 24 districts is November 6. It may be mentioned here that during a recent meeting of senior leaders from lucknow to finalise a potential candidates, almost all those attended the meeting are on the view that in absence of an winnable candidate, the Party should go for some finically sound candidate who just not meet out his own campaign expenses, but will also finance some strong candidate of the Congress who has good chance to win but they lack to support their campaign financially.
