Uttar Pradesh Congress accused Samajwadi Party for confusing the minorities on issue of reservation. They also charged the Akhilesh Yadav’s government for not utilizing the funds for welfare and progress of the minorities and using them just as their vote-banks to win election.

At the time of Assembly election both Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav assured the minorities that if they will come to power than they will give 18 percent reservation to them. However, now they forget their promise after cheating the minorities and using them as vote bank”, alleged chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee, Maroof Khan here on Wednesday evening.

Maroof Khan, who is also spokesman of the UPCC alleged that chief minister Akhilesh just tried to mislead  the members of the community by saying that Congress should introduce a Bill in the House on reservation and they will support it. ``Why when the SP assured of giving 18 percent reservation to minorities now wanted the Congress to introduce the Bill when our Party’s stand was very clear that we well provide reservation just on the pattern adopted in Kerala, Karnatka and Andhra Pradesh”, claimed Maroof Khan while accusing Samajwadi Party for adopting dual policy on the reservation issue. He said that Congress already fulfilled the promise as assured but the benefit could not be forwarded just as Apex Court intervened in the matter.

Taking on Samajwadi Party government further, Maroof Khan alleged that even the fund sanctioned by United Progressive Alliance government at the Centre has been not properly utilized by the Akhilesh Yadav’s government. ``In the 21 Muslim Concentrated districts of the State, Centre as per their police dispatched 1100 crores to the State to use it for welfare and progress of the minority community. However, Akhilesh Yadav’s government had not utilized it properly”, alleged Maroof Khan citing that the government had to construct hostels in 12 of the 21 Muslims Concentrated districts but nothing has done so far.

Similarly, 19 polytechnics are to be opened in the State but Akhilesh Yadav failed to open even one of them including 32 ITI’s  out of which just 3 started functioning.  likewise against 35,000 houses under Indira Awas Yojna, State government constructed just 9000. Besides several other projects for welfare of the minorities were not taken up by the State government which also included financial help to young entrepreneurs to take up their business, alleged Maroof Khan.
