UP CM blames centre for power crisis in state

Blaming Centre for the prevailing power crisis in Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav asked the BJP-led NDA government to increase the quota of coal and power at the earliest so that people could get the relief.

“The State Government is committed to provide adequate electricity by 2016 but the state needs help from the centre. We need more coal but are even not getting the allotted quota,” Chief Minister said in Vidhan Sabha here on Wednesday.
Making an intervention during the question hour CM got annoyed when BJP member laxmikant Bajpai alleged that CM has no time even to talk to Union power minister.
“How do you know (that he did not speak to Union minister)IJ Were you tapping our phonesIJ” CM asked. “We are in touch and I have given all the information about availability of coal and electricity to the centre,” he said.

CM was very critical of BJP the way centre has overlooked UP’s plight.  “People of UP have overwhelmingly voted in favour of BJP with a hope that the party will brighten their future. Instead, it (UP) has become dark,” Yadav said
Parliamentary Affairs minister fished out figures to show that centre has allocated just 40 per cent of the allotted coal to the thermal power plants. “When we cannot get coal how can we generate electricity,” he said.
BJP members were on their feet when Azam Khan said that while the country was reeling under acute poverty Prime Minister Narendra Modi had sanctioned 17000 million dollars as aid to FIJI.
Meanwhile in another question the up government admitted that financial loss of the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation limited (UPPCl) has gone up to Rs 47378 crores whereas the corporation owes Rs 52,297 crore to banks and financial institutions.
