The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party will organize its two-day state working committee meeting in Meerut from August 11. The meet's concluding session will be addressed by BJP president Amit Shah on August 12. A decision to this effect was taken in the office-bearers’ meeting held in lucknow on Wednesday.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and state BJP chief Mahendra Nath Pandey too attended the meeting.

“It was decided that the working committee meeting will be held in Meerut on August 11 and 12. leaders of that region have been asked to start preparing for the meet. Amit Shah will address the concluding session,” he said.

As this would probably be the last state working committee meeting before lok Sabha poll, the focus of the BJP would be west UP.

The region has recently seen the emergence of Dalit politics with Bhim Army making its presence felt in Saharanpur.

Secondly, the BJP suffered two electoral reversals losing Kairana lok Sabha and Noorpur Assembly by polls in west UP.

Incidentally, the BJP started its campaign for 2014 lok Sabha poll from west UP. That time Muzafarnagar riots had recently happened and the party was able to garner support in its favour.

About the lucknow meeting,Pandey said, "In the office bearers meet, leaders prepared the road map for the next lok Sabha poll. Directives were given to take forward organizational work down to village level. Besides, workers were asked to ensure that benefits of government schemes reached the poor, farmers and youth.

leaders expressed satisfaction over holding of PM’s rally in Maghar, Azamgarh and Varanasi. Discussions were also held for the PM’s farmers’ rally in Shahajahanpur on July 21 where 3 lakh farmers from the state are likely to attend.”

"It was also decided that workers would go to the farmers and ask them to get health card of their soil so that they could know what type of crops to be grown," the state BJP chief said.
