After creating a history in the lok Sabha elections, Uttar Pradesh BJP has now set its eye on the Vidhan Sabha elections slated in 2017 to grab power in the state as well.
“The party is not complacent with the resounding victory it has got in just concluded lok sabha elections. We have set our eyes on Vidhan Sabha polls and are working accordingly,” BJP state president laxmi kant Bajpai told reporters in a lunch-on press conference here on Monday.
He said the party has started preparing ground for the 2017 elections. “BJP will take advantage of the misdeeds of the Samajwadi Party government and will seek the peoples’ mandate in favour of the party in assembly poll,” he said.
Bajpai called on the party workers to continue meeting people as they did before lok Sabha elections. They should go before the people to seek their support for the BJP in the next elections.
“Though 2017 is still three years away yet a mini election awaits us as 11 assembly seats will go to the polls very soon in the state as the BJP MlAs there have been elected to the lok Sabha. We should not sit idle and work hard to ensure we can retain all these 11 seats,” Bajpai said.
