UP Anti Terror Squad will take suspects of Bijnaur terror outfit on remand to interrogate them further to extract more information. The decision came after the arrested miscreants disclosed sensitive information to the team. The ATS will send the laptops/mobiles recovered from them for forensic analysis.

Earlier, the team sent the terror suspects to lucknow jail in judicial custody after a thorough interrogation. Those sent to jail were identified as Ehtsam-ul haq of West Champaran of Bihar, Mohammed Faizan of Nagina in Bijnaur, Muzammil aka Ghazi Baba of Unnao and Mohammed Nazim aka Umar of Nahtar police station of Bijnaur. Both Muzammil and Mohammed Nazim were camping in Jalandhar and Mumbai respectively.

It surfaced that the all the suspects, though belonging to different region/state, were linked with one another through social media and had orientation to terror related activities. They were involved in the terror plan in Haridwar (Utrakhand), Shia Imambara, Naugaon of Bijnaur, threat to Tariq Fateh, attack on a policeman going all alone in Mumbai, setting fire at Sugar Mill in Narkatiyaganj of Bihar and targeting shops of gas cylinder and batteries from the area where Hindu population is high. It also surfaced that the group held a meeting in Jalandhar where they chalked out a plan to arrange pistols, gunpowder and cash to carry out the terror operations. During the interrogation it also surfaced that Mohammed Faizan and Mohammed Nazim talked to a man who is a resident of Bijanur asking him to provide them pistol and gun powder. “The man had been identified and an action will be taken against him,’ the ATS sleuths told.

They said the above named suspects planned to buy pistols from a gun runner in Mumabi but were arrested before their deal could be finalized.

The ATS will send the mobile and laptops, which were recovered from suspects, to forensic analysis to Cert-in and it is hoped that the ATS will get valuable and important information related to the terror outfit and their activities in the past. Different ATS teams have been dispatched for Bijnau, Muzaffarnagar and Mumbai and the details of bank account of the suspects were being scanned. After the report from the forensic lab was obtained the ATS will examine the same in the light of the interrogation report of the suspects and subsequently the ATS will take the above named suspects on remand again.
