Following the spurt in the asymptomatic coronavirus positive cases, the Uttar Pradesh government has now allowed home isolation of such patients under laid down norms, making it mandatory for the patients and their families to follow the home isolation protocol.
“A large number of asymptomatic COVID-19 patients are hiding their illness which may give further rise to infection. In view of this, the state government will allow home isolation under certain provisions of laid out in norms. The patients and their families will have to follow the home isolation protocol,” Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said after the regular meeting with the state officials here on Monday.
He said that though the government was not ready for home isolation as there were adequate number of beds in the Covid hospitals, but as the asymptomatic patients were hiding their symptoms, hence home isolation with strict protocol had been allowed.
“If the patients and their family members agree to follow the guidelines of home isolation then only it will be allowed,” he said.
The chief minister said besides implementing this arrangement, the people should be made aware about prevention from coronavirus infection. For this, an extensive publicity campaign should be run in which the print, electronic media, social media, banner, posters, hoardings and public address system should be used, he said.
The chief minister directed officials to make sure that people used masks and maintained social distancing.
He said good immunity was extremely essential for prevention from COVID-19. Directing officials to launch a mass awareness about protection from COVID-19, he said that people should be motivated to download Aarogya Setu and Ayush Kavach-Covid apps.
“People can increase their body immunity through simple methods suggested in the apps. The apps will also help them to get alert on coronavirus.
The chief minister said that door-to-door survey was a necessary process and it is found to be very useful in identifying the COVID-19 patients through medical screening.
Asking officials to carry on with door-to-door survey, he said the suspected people should be tested by rapid antigen test.
He also directed officials to convene a meeting of the office-bearers of Indian Medical Association (IMA) and Nursing Association at the district level in order to bring about improvement in the health services.
The chief minister directed the Health and Medical Education departments to ensure effective action to bring down the COVID-19 mortality rate to the minimum. He said contact tracings should be done at any cost to contain the infection.
He also directed the Health and Medical Education departments to send a special team of doctors to Lucknow, Kanpur Nagar, Basti, Prayagraj, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Ballia, Jhansi, Moradabad and Varanasi accompanied by the nodal officers of these districts.
He said the Covid hospitals should be equipped with all the facilities. The Level-1 and Level-2 hospitals should have oxygen and ventilators while Covid and non-Covid hospitals should have separate ambulances.
The chief minister said that special attention should be given to cleanliness and hygiene in the hospitals. He said doctors should take regular rounds in the hospitals and the paramedics should monitor the condition of the patients.
He also directed officials to keep on training medical personnel about protection from the infection.
The chief minister was apprised of the implementation of the special cleanliness and sanitation drive held on Saturday and Sunday. He was informed that the drive was very successful.
In this drive, cleanliness and sanitation works were undertaken in urban and rural areas along with fogging and spraying of anti-larva chemicals.
