Uttar Pradesh has turned into a lucrative destination for Bollywood directors and producers with several mega budget films being shot in the state. This was stated by UP Film Development Council member Vishal Kapoor.
"All credit to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for his efforts in changing the scenario in UP after which film makers are willingly flocking to the state. Besides the new Film Policy launched by the SP government has also attracted stars to come to the state for shooting of films and other activities," Kapoor told reporters in Etawah on Wednesday.
"The Council has already received 150 odd proposals seeking permission to shoot from Bollywood and other film producers," he said.
He said that the formula of 'More Films, More Employments' is now being translated in the state by the SP government. "At present, two films of Salman Khan production house are being shot in the state. 'Sultan' has already been shot in Muzaffarnagar," he informed.
"Besides, the next production of Kabir Khan would also be shot in the state while British film maker Asif Kapadia and other producers like Ramesh Sippy, Vidhu Vinod Chopra have also shown interest in coming to UP. Soon Sharukh Khan would also be coming here for shooting,” he said.
The UPFDC member asserted that UP's image has certainly gone up after films were shot in different parts in the last few years. "The best part is that film activity has generated employment at the ground level," he said.
Kapoor also mentioned the shooting of 'Bullet Raja' in lucknow and adjoining areas and hoped that the upcoming lion Safari park will be another shoot destination for film producers.
