Panic prevailed at Darul Shafa Vidhayak Niwas building after Union Minister of State of Housing and Urban Affairs Kaushal Kishore got trapped in the elevator and his supporters started banging the door, demanding that the minister be rescued at the earliest, in Hazratganj area of Lucknow on Friday afternoon.
Kishore, who is an MP from the neighbouring Mohanlalganj parliamentary constituency, had gone to address a media conference on the second floor of Darul Shafa when the lift got stuck on the second floor. This led to chaos as the minister’s supporters, who were waiting on the second floor of the building, started banging the elevator’s door.
Kishore’s supporters later claimed that the minister remained stuck inside the lift for around 10 minutes and was brought out safely after a technical flaw was fixed.
Maintenance in-charge of Darul Shafa building, Avnish Rathore, claimed that there was nothing wrong with the elevator as it was made operational just a month back and was working efficiently.
“The lift got stuck due to haste while pressing the button. Lift operator Ram Kripal Yadav was on duty but in haste, he pressed a few wrong buttons causing the elevator door to get stuck. After a few minutes, the door opened and the minister came out unscathed,” he said.
However, a formal complaint was filed with the company looking after maintenance of the lift.
