Buoyant by the union government’s decision to give interest free loans to sugar mills to clear their dues BJP state president Dr laxmi Kant Bajpai has asked party workers to spread this message among the people and cane growers and ask mill owners to clear their dues at the earliest.
“The Union Government has decided to give Rs 6000 crore interest free loan to the sugar mill owners. The workers should meet Cane officials at the district level and force mill owners to clear the dues,” he said in a statement issued here on Thursday.
Dr Bajpai said that Government will give loan only of mill owners clear half of their due by June 30. “This message should be spread across the sugar belt. The mills should be forced to clear half of the due so that they could avail government’s scheme,” he said.
Cane is an important political issue in Uttar Pradesh. The cane due for this fiscal is around Rs 700 crore and at many places in western Uttar Pradesh farmers are staging protest demanding early release of their dues.
“The Modi Government has done its part. It is now up to the state government and sugar mills to clear the dues,” he said exhorting workers to spread the word that Modi Government is helping them to clear cane arrears.
