Hitting out at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that both the Union and state governments have failed to live up to the expectations of the people and as a result every section of the society from teachers to farmers were out on the streets protesting against the policies of the government.
“The Samajwadi Party government constructed high quality Expressway linking Agra with lucknow where even jet fighters can land. But the three-year-old Modi Government could not construct even one highway of that quality,” Yadav said in a statement issued in lucknow on Monday.
Yadav said that the SP government launched Metro rail in lucknow without help from Central Government. “Had Modi government given an NOC on time, then by now lakhs of people would have started commuting the new transport syastem,” he said.
Yadav’s statement came on a day when BJP national president Amit Shah said that the Yogi government will not construct highways and Metro rails as done by previous governments as these were not in operation.
“The BJP is so hungry for power that it is engaged in poaching legislators from other parties. Its leaders are afraid to fight elections and were therefore looking for back-door entry into the state legislature,” he said reacting to reports that three MlCs including two from SP and one from BSP joined the BJP on Monday.
Yadav said that people were fed up with the policies of BJP government as the party thrived on communal and casteist politics. “Their mentality can be gauged from the fact that their president looks at the caste of worker before going to his house for lunch,” he said.
Amit Shah had lunch at a BJP worker’s house who happened to be a Yadav.
