In a sensational incident, two youths crushed their mother to death to claim insurance money in Mathura. However, both assailants were arrested on Thursday.
Amar Singh of Tithaura in Tindwari area took his 42-year-old mother for darshan to Chitrakoot on Wednesday evening. He later turned up at the police station and claimed that a speeding Duster MUV crushed his mother to death as she was crossing the road near Asraha locality. The police registered a case and sent the body for autopsy.
In course of investigation, the polic came to learn that Amar Singh and his brother Rahul were looking to eliminate their mother so that they could pocket the insurance cclaim. It also surfaced that the brothers also owned a Duster MUV. The vehicle was taken in police custody and during technical inspection it came out that the same vehicle was used to crush the deceased.
Subsequently, the cops detained Amar and Rahul on Thursday and duing two hours of grilling, they confessed to the crime. They were later arrested and sent to jail.
Meanwhile in another incident at Mathura, a man was shot by goons while trying to save the modesty of his sisters at Govardhan police station area on Wednesday night.
Chandrashekhar and his two sisters were traveling in a van from Chhata village to Deeg. The criminals were traveling in the van too. Midway, the miscreants started robbing the passengers and tried to outrage the modesty of the girls which was opposed by Chandrashekhar. Irked by Chandrashekhar, the assailants shot him from close range. A case was registered at Govardhan police station in this connection. SSP Mohit Gupta, who visited the spot, said teams have been set up to track down the accused.
