Two-day BJP meeting to be held in Ghaziabad

With an eye on the crucial 2017 assembly elections two-day state executive of the Uttar Pradesh BJP will be held in Ghaziabad from Monday where leaders will discuss party’s strategy for assembly elections. “The two days' meet to be held at ITS college at Mohan Nagar will discuss the present political situation in the state, problems farmers are facing because of unseasonal rains, nitty-gritty of maha sampark abhiyan, training programme of the new members and the coming panchayat polls in the state,” BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak told The Pioneer here on Sunday.

He said political and economic resolutions would also be passed focusing on the failure of the Samajwadi Party Government to redress the grievances of the common man in general and farmers in particular. “The focus of the meeting would be the three year mis-rule of Akhilesh Yadav government. The meeting will focus on his failure to control crime rate and speed up development in the state. There is window of opportunity for the party to exploit and the cadre will be told about this,” Pathak said.

During the meet the party leadership could also announce agitational programme to rejuvenate the cadre after the party debacle in the Assembly by polls. This meeting is crucial as the party has lost all the bye-elections contested in last one year. The party suffered an ignominy when it was pushed to third place in the Pharenda bye-elections. In this scenario the panchayat elections are crucial because it is believed that Modi magic in UP is on the wane.

The agenda of the meeting will be prepared by the office-bearers in consultation with senior leaders. The meet will be inaugurated by general secretary and in-charge Om Mathur while national president Amit Shah would be the chief guest on the concluding day. Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari along with several other senior BJP leaders and Union ministers from Uttar Pradesh including Kalraj Mishra, Santosh Gangwar and Uma Bharati are also likely to attend the meet. The meeting will be chaired by state BJP president laxmikant Bajpai.
