Two Bajrang Dal activists were taken in custody while efforts were on to nab a village pradhan, who was reported absconding, in connection with the attack on a church and family members staying there at Sahakari Nagar here in Bulundshahr on Wednesday evening.
Superintendent of Police (City)in Bulundhshar, Rajesh Kumar, who visited the spot along with local police claimed that the father of the church RC Paul aka Jaipaul, has lodged a complaint against 24 Bajrang Dal activists for beating him and his family members. The activists, who were arrested on Thursday had alleged that the attack was made as church was involved in religion conversion.
Reports said that the Bajrang Dal activists, led by its district convener Hemant, attacked the church and badly beat up its father Jaipaul and his family members including minor children, on Wednesday evening. They also ransacked the church premises. Hemant and one Yogendra have been arrested by the police but gram pradhan Rajiv Agrawal, who was also among the attackers, was absconding. After the arrest, activists of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha(BJYM) also held a demonstration at the residence of the SSP alleging that the police was “harassing the innocent” in the matter. District Magistrate, Nidhi Keserwani said the arrested people were involved in the attack and no one would be allowed to take law in their hands.
Meanwhile crime against women continued unabated as one more body of a woman who was allegedly gangraped, was recovered in Meerut on Thursday morning. According to reports, a semi-nude body of a woman was found hanging from a tree in Hastinapur area of Meerut on Thursdaymorning. local police which rushed to the spot claimed that preliminary investigation revealed that the woman was allegedly gang raped and then hanged from the tree. They had sent the body for post-mortem and were waiting for report to confirm the exact cause of death. Efforts were also made to arrest the accused.
Meanwhile, family members of a 14-year-old girl in Satti village of Kanpur Dehat district have alleged gang rape by two youts of the village. In a police complaint, the parents of the girl alleged that two youths—Kallu and Fazlu — have raped their daughter by forcefully entering in their house on Wednesday night. Both the accused are absconding after the incident.
