In a historic moment that marks the culmination of centuries of struggle and devotion by millions of Ram devotees, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is embarking on an 11-day ritual to pay tribute to the martyrs of the temple movement.
This solemn occasion, held during Pitra Paksha, symbolises the fulfillment of the resolve of countless Hindus and serves as a poignant acknowledgment of the sacrifices made during the 500-year temple movement along the banks of the sacred Saryu River.
Commencing with the Navah Parayan on October 3, this initiative holds great significance as it is the first time that rituals are being performed during Pitra Paksha to honor the memory of those who lost their lives in the pursuit of the Ram temple’s construction.
The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust convened a meeting with various organisations at their union office on Friday to discuss the details of this heartfelt tribute. During the gathering, it was revealed that the lighting of lamps in the name of Ram devotees would begin on October 3.
The initiative entails the organisation of Navah Parayan sessions of the Ramayana and Ramcharit Manas in 10,000 families across Ayodhya. The meticulous planning for this event was undertaken during the meeting, with the nine-day Navah Parayan scheduled to conclude on October 11. The final day of the rituals, October 13, will witness a grand festival of lights at Ram Ki Paidi, where 10 thousand lamps will be lit to pay tribute to the martyrs.
The meeting, attended by Trust General Secretary Champat Rai, as well as other Trustee Association and VHP officials, saw the delegation of responsibilities to various individuals. Notably, the Sangh is actively identifying ten thousand families within the district who will participate in this touching ritual to honor the memory of temple movement martyrs.
This initiative was conceived on the recommendation of renowned Kashi scholar, Laxmikant Dwivedi, who Dwivedi emphasised the importance of saluting those who have sacrificed immensely for the construction of the temple, especially in anticipation of its inauguration in January.
These rituals are intended to seek the blessings of these revered individuals and commemorate their dedication.
Furthermore, the consecration of Ramlala is also planned under the guidance of Laxmikant Dwivedi, further underscoring the spiritual significance of this commemorative event during Pitru Paksha.
