The efforts made by the Yogi Adityanath government to increase the income of the farmers have started showing positive results with reports that the tribals are also joining the mainstream of agriculture.

According to an official spokesman, in Jhansi district, special efforts are being made in nine selected villages to connect the tribal community with the mainstream of agriculture. By providing training, technical assistance and advanced seeds to the farmers of the tribal community, they are being motivated for such farming so that they may earn more income with less effort.

With the help of scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra situated in Bharari, many farmers of these villages are proving to be an inspiration for other farmers by doing better farming. Under the tribal sub-plan scheme, Krishi Vigyan Kendra has taken steps to motivate the tribals in Jhansi district, which is showing positive results. More than 200 farmers of the Sahariya tribal community of Lakara, Badora, Bajna and Garhmau villages have been selected. They were motivated by providing basic agricultural equipment including seeds, solar pumps, sprayers, storage bins as per the need, after which many farmers also inspired the nearby farmers with the help of excellent produce.

Sewing machines have also been distributed to make the women of the village self-reliant. Now, in these four villages, one self-help group has been formed and training is going on, besides teaching on many other farming-based works to increase income.

Similarly, more than 140 farmers of Patha Kharka, Ghurat, Magarwara, Kachnev and Kagar villages of Bangra block have been selected. Along with training them, they were motivated to cultivate vegetables by providing them with advanced varieties of seeds and saplings. Insecticides, fungicides etc. were also made available to interested farmers. Many farmers of these villages showed interest in the cultivation of vegetables and now other farmers are also inspired and taking steps in this direction.

Many farmers of the tribal Sahariya community have achieved better yields by using modern technology in cultivation of brinjal, tomato, chilli, kharif onion, ginger.

Dr Adesh, scientist of Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Bharari, says that work is going on to connect the tribal community for advanced farming. “Farmers are being trained. The emphasis is on providing quality seeds. Seed treatment training is also very important for farmers. To promote vegetable production, we are running a nursery of tomato, chilli and brinjal for the farmers. The farmers of tribal communities are showing great interest and they are continuously moving forward for this type of farming,” he added.
