Three more persons were arrested by the sleuths of the Anti-Terrorists Squad (ATS) in connection with facilitating fake documents to secure jobs in the Indian Army with the help of those forged documents.

According to Inspector-General of Police (ATS) Aseem Arun, on the information extracted from two accused arrested earlier by them from Varanasi in the army recruitment case, the team got further success when they held three more members also from Varanasi on Friday. They were identified as Ajay Kumar Singh, Nageshwar Kumar Murya, both hailing from Shivpur area of Varanasi and Awadh Prakash Maurya aka Babloo, a resident of Chaubepur locality also in Varanasi.

Arun said that Nageshwar Murya, owned a Photostat shop `Narain Enterprises’ in Varanasi Collectrate in which  Babloo used to make fake marksheets and degrees while Ajay Kumar Singh, used to search candidate from Nepal seeking recruitment in the Indian Army. He claimed that Ajay later used to collect Rs 1500 per candidate from earlier arrested kingpin the gang, Chandra Bhadhur Khatri to provide fake documents as well as to introduce the candidates to him (Khatri) for recruitment.  Further investigations are on with the held accused.

It may be mentioned that the ATS on last Monday morning arrested an army jawan, identified as Dilip Giri, on charges of submitting fake certificates to enter the army. On information provided by Giri during interrogation, the ATS team on the same night nabbed Chandra Bahadur Khatri, from Sadar Bazar area of Varanasi. Khatri is believed to have arranged fake certificates to aspirants seeking jobs in the army.

Aseem Arun claimed that Khatri was recruited in the Gorkha Regiment in 1982 but was sacked in 1991. Thereafter, he shifted to a rented accommodation in the Cantonment area of Varanasi and ran the fake certificates racket, targeting youngsters coming from Nepal. Khatri’s father Bhim Bahadur, too, retired from Gorkha Regiment. “Khatri used to sell fake domicile and other certificates to Nepali youths seeking jobs in the army. He had also been jailed in 2010 on similar charges,” the IG said. The ATS officer accused Khatri of supplying fake certificates to Dilip Giri, whose original name is Vishnu lal Bhattarai.
