The killing of Dy SP haunt Raja Bhaiyya

The killing of Dy SP, Zia-ul-Haq and two others in Pratapgarh last year has come back to haunt cabinet minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya. While the slain cop's wife has been demanding the ouster of the minister, the UP government has rejected it backing Singh.

The DySP's widow, Praveen Azad became more vocal after a designated CBI court in lucknow refused to accept the probe agency's cleanchit to the minister in the murder of Suresh Yadav, one of three killed in Kunda on March 2, 2013. The court has summoned Singh and 15 others after rejecting the Final Report filed by the CBI.

Azad also demanded a high-level probe supervised by the High Court claiming  taht she had lost faith in the CBI.

"A probe by a SIT set up by the HC would be acceptabled in the case. My charges against the minister and his cronies have been vindicated and now the SP government should immediately sack the tainted minister," she told reporters in lucknow on Friday.

On its part, the SP government refused to wilt to any demand for sacking of Raja Bhaiyya. PWD minister Shivpal Singh Yadav told reporters that the government respects the court and the minister would appear in the trial.

"There is no need for sacking Raja Bhaiyya from the cabinet. He had resigned once and was out of the ministry for six months when charges were levelled against him in 2013. He was re-inducted when the CBI gave him a clean chit," the minister said.
