The Budget session of the Uttar Pradesh State Assembly beginning Monday is likely to be brief but stormy with opposition parties ready to question Government on its failure to control riots in Muzaffarnagar.

“The Muzaffarnagar riots were state sponsored. We want an answer as why the Government allowed the riots to linger on that led to killing of so many people,” leader of opposition in State Assembly and BSP leader Swamy Prasad Maurya told reporters here on Sunday.

This statement has set the tone and tenor of the session as opposition parties including Bahujan Samaj Party,  BJP,  Congress and RlD are baying for Government’s blood over law and order situation in the state.

The four-day long session bgining Monday will end on Friday with Tuesday being a holiday on the occasion of Vishwakarma puja. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will table the supplementary budget of around Rs 1000 crore on September 18. The same is likely to be passed the next day.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md azam Khan said that the Government was ready to answer opposition charges. Realising that Opposition might create din in the House, Azam Khan said: “The Opposition is also responsible for running the House peacefully. If they ahve any question the Government would be so pleased to answer them,” he said.

Earlier in the day Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey summoned an all party meeting where he sought support of all parties for peaceful conduct of the House proceedings. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, however, did not attend the meeting as he was out visiting riot victims in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining areas. Parliamentary Affairs minister too skipped the meeting.

Coming out of the meeting Congress leader Pramod Tiwari said opposition has demanded that House prceedings should be extended as four days sitting was not enough to discuss all the issues.

BJP legislature party leader Hukum Singh said that his party will take a lead in raising Muzaffarnagar violence. The Muslim appeasement policy has led to this situation, he said.

Hukum Singh is one of the accused in the Muzaffarnagar riots.Meanwhile, security has been tightened in view of Monsoon session. Three-tier security system will be in place to prevent any untoward incident, said UP Assembly, Principal Secretary Pradeep Kumar Dubey.
