The curtain behind the outcome of Parliament elections showing a very poor show by Congress would unveiled on coming Friday, but the state president Nirmal Khatri had made a unique record of not holding a single election rally or even an address to media persons here at state headquarter through-out the polling.
When the president of other national political parties or even regional outfits were busy campaigning for the Party as well as also taking media queries through press conferences, Khatri remained confined to his own Parliament constituency Faizabad, and even after voting was completed there on May 7, Khatri did not take pain to go and address for some other candidates who were contesting in the last phase.
Sources in the Congress confirmed that posters have been prepared to put it at Party’s office showing Khatri as `Missing’ but on timely intervention of some senior colleagues, the juniors dropped the idea. Sources, however, confirmed that even before the outcome of this elections would come on this Friday, a big section of the Congressmen voiced their concern towards this apathetic approach of Nirmal Khatri towards the Party and demanded that he should not remained as president and must be removed immediately to pave way for some other leader.
``It is strange that a leader like Nirmal Khatri has been sent as State President, particularly when our vice-president Rahul Gandhi always talked of strengthening the Organisation if we wanted to perform good in this biggest state of the country”, quoted a senior Congress leader who was former spokesman of the UPCC. ``The concern of Khatri of given a solid leadership to the Organisation and that too at the most crucial time of Parliament elections can be easily gauged from the fact that the MP from Faizabad not found time to address even a single rally for any other Party candidate or even to address media persons about the political strategy or other aspects of the Party”, cited the leader. ``Never in the history or Congress which is oldest political party in the country that the State president had not addressed any rally or hold a single press conference”, added the leader saying that by doing so Khatri only registered a unique record in his name for not given a single minute to the Organisation during entire lok Sabha elections.
Demanding removal of Khatri another Congress leader who is also a member of All India Congress Committee said that it is irony of the Party that the Organisation in UP has been given in those hands who were interested only in their own elections. ``While Khatri, not given any time to the Party or improve chances of any other candidate through-out the elections and remained confined in his own Parliament constituency, the incharge of Party affairs here in UP, Madhusudan Mistri too concentrated just on his own election in Gujrat and only in the end spared some time in UP”, cited the leader adding that how the Party orgnisation could be strengthened under the leadership of such leaders. ``It is high time that Party high command should strictly stick to it’s formula of not giving ticket to State as well as District and City presidents, otherwise they would concentrate just on improving their own fortune and will leave the Party just like an `Orphan’ as witnessed in UP during this election”, he quipped.
