Social activist Nutan Thakur sought action against Principal Secretary (Sports) Anita Bhatnagar Jain for intentionally shielding ex-Principal of Guru Govind Singh Sports College, lucknow, who has been charged of phenomenal irregularities.

In a letter sent to the Chief Minister on Saturday,  Thakur said that irregularities about the college surfaced through an enquiry conducted by by Secretary, UP Sports Society, R N Singh who tabled the report on June 10, 2015 . This was followed by a detailed report August 7, 2015, by Director, Sports, Dr RP Singh which said that 353 students more than the prescribed number of 345 was kept in the last four years.

Of these, 225 students did not submit fees, inflicing a loss of Rs. 2.54 crores to government exchequer. It also transpired that in the last three years, 211 students who had failed in the preliminary selection process, were given back door entry in the College. In  the light of the fact, Thakur has sought punishment against Anita Bhatnagar Jain for intentional dereliction of duty.

Meanwhile, Thakur also urged transparency in Development Authorities and demanded that all housing and development agencies must display names and details of the allotees.  She demanded public declaration of all residential, commercial, industrial flats and plots on their websites by all Development Authorities of the state, as was being done by the lucknow Development Authority (lDA).

In her letter to  the CM, Thakur said that the lDA website prescribes five methods of searching the details of the its allottee and the properties where any person can know the number of properties owned by an individual or the real allottee of any property. In contrast, there is no such system in other Development Authorities like Noida, Great Noida, Ghaziabad etc. Thakur said that making such an arrangement would increase transparency, reduce possibility of benami properties and would keep a check on the improprieties of Authority staff.
