Thakur accuses state Govt of double standard

Published on:

Suspended IPS officer Amitabh Thakur on Tuesday accused the state government of adopting double standards and discriminating in the reinstatement policy.

In a letter to Chef Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday, Thakur levelled serious allegations of discrimination in reinstatement from suspension. He said that he was suspended on July 13 last year and a 16 point charge sheet was given to him on same day, initiating Departmental enquiry under the All India Services Discipline and Appeal Rules, though none of these charges are related with his dereliction of duty as IG Civil defence.

In contrast, the then DM of Pratapgarh, Amrit Tripathi and SP Sunil Saxena were suspended on December 10 last year on the report of  the State Election Commission indicting them of being biased and dereliction of duty resulting in violence and communal tension, but no Departmental Enquiry was initiated against them. While Amrit Tripathi was reinstated within 25 days on  January 2,  Saxena was reinstated after 38 days on January 18.

Thakur said that dereliction of duty in elections is a serious misconduct under All India Services Conduct Rules but no action was taken against these officers while he has been kept under suspension, which is abjectly discriminatory. Highlighting the above facts, Thakur has sought immediate reinstatement.
