Even when the Congress leaders claimed consensus off all the members of the state Assembly over nomination for Rajya Sabha seat by Pramod Tewari but the move clearly pointed blessings of Samajwadi Party for Tewari just for his Rsco-operation’ for the ruling parties which he forwarded as Congress legislative Party (ClP), the post which he enjoyed for the longest term.
During over two decades of Pramod’s tenure as ClP, the Party went on declining with every passing election, but Pramod always get flourishing. After last Assembly elections, Congress yuvraj Rahul realised about the loss to the Party in UP in over last two decades and was surprised to find that while state presidents kept on changing making them responsible for the debacles but Pramod continued to enjoy the same position.
Hence, he took initiative and not only removed Rita Bahuguna but also shunted out Pramod from the ClP post replacing his with three time MlA Pradeep Mathur. Sources said that Pramod tried to use his Rsconnection’ at that time to somehow reach to Centre either through Rajya Sabha or being given any key post in the Organisation. He also wanted to vacate his Assembly seat for his daughter who too was keen to enter into politics. However sources in the Party confirmed that since Rahul was not happy with Pramod so the former ClP failed to achieve any success. It may be also mentioned that when entire Opposition sat on dharna in Assembly against the wrong-doings of the Government last year, Pramod left the House for which he was also reportedly issued Notice by the Party.
During Congress demonstration against state government on food security act on November 21 last, when all senior leaders of Congress were canned, Pramod left the scene mid-way. The differences between former ClP and Rahul is also evident when on Tuesday, Pramod while talking to media persons took the name of Sonia Gandhi for her blessings to his nomination for RS seat but he not took name of Rahul Gandhi even once. Besides the above, the manner in which Samajwadi party extended it’s support to Pramod Tewari now also buttressed the allegation of union steel minister that defeat of the Party in 2012 Assembly election is also because of some senior state level leaders were working as Rsagents’ of Samajwadi Party.
Though Beni not took any name but now suspicion were raised over Pramod particularly in the manner in which he got support of SP. Now, despite of all odds against him reportedly due to annoyance of Rahul Gandhi, former ClP seems to have not just used his Rscoonection’ with the SP to enter RS but now he would also fulfll his desire to get his daughter elected to state Assembly and one should be not surprised if SP would also not field any candidate against her.
