The security agencies have been put on high alert in view of terror threat during March 2 lucknow rally of BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. The step was also taken particularly after Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorist Tahseen Akhtar alias Monu was spotted in the State.
It may be mentioned that the security of Modi is a cause of concern for the agencies as Tahseen was involved in the bomb explosions in Patna on October 27 just before the rally of the Gujarat chief minister. Prior to this, he was also wanted in the serial bomb blasts in Bodh Gaya temple in July last. The highly placed sources disclosed here on Monday evening that the IM terrorist was spotted near Indo-Nepal border near Bahraich district and the report prompted the agencies to be extra cautious in view of Modi's rally early next month.
According to sources, Monu, a native of Maharashtra or Karnataka, is being used to arrange for bombs at local levels after IM's key man Abdul Kareem alias Tunda was arrested on July16 last. The intelligence agencies are on the job to provide foolproof security to Modi and for the purpose, the venue of the rally and other logistics are under surveillance of them. "We are sparing no effort to prevent any terror activity, if planned," sources added. The local police is also assisting the agencies in the security arrangements, according to sources.
