Tension prevailed in Agra after a video showing four men attacking the house of a Muslim family went viral on social media on Friday.

As per reports, the men allegedly barged into the house and sexually assaulted an 18-year-old girl. The incident took place in the Trans Yamuna police station area of Agra on Tuesday. Reports also suggest that other members of the family were also attacked when they tried to resist the assaulters.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Suraj Kumar Rai claimed that an FIR was registered against the four accused and the case was being investigated. He further said that efforts were on to nab the absconding accused.

The house owner, who as per reports, works in a transport company, said that the men targeted his teenage daughter, molested her and tore off her clothes. He further added that when he objected, the men, identified as Vishal Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Sheelu and Chhotu, attacked the family members, while a few others stood guard outside the house. The attackers also vandalised the house and pelted stones.

The father also alleged that his daughter was hit with a brick in the head and she fell unconscious. The girl’s brother, as per reports, said that when neighbours gathered outside the house, the attackers went away, but not before threatening to kill the family if they reported the matter to the police. He said that the family was targeted for being the only Muslim family in the locality.

Police have registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 452 (house trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354B (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), etc.

The injured were sent for medical examination.

Two teams were also formed to nab the accused who were found absconding from their houses after learning of being named in the case.

Meanwhile in Shahjahanpur, a 22-year-old man was shot dead over an extramarital affair in Madnapur area of the district, police said on Friday.

Ajay Pal was shot dead by Ravindra Singh and his brother Satyendra Singh in Baria Kala village on Thursday night, Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena said.

Pal was allegedly involved in an affair with Ravindra Singh’s wife, he said.

Ravindra Singh was arrested on Friday while his brother is absconding.

The body was sent for autopsy and further investigations are on.
