Tension prevailed in Allahabad and Agra districts where communal clashes broke out during the procession of Barawafat on Sunday. A sub-divisional magistrate(SDM) was among the 10 injured in the brick-batting in both the areas where police had to fire in the air to control the situation.. A report from Allahabad confirmed that people torched several shops during the procession leading to tension in lalgopalganj area under Nababganj police station areas.
later in the stone pelting, a SDM was injured along with some other people and police had fire in the air to disperse the mob. Additional forces have been deployed in the trouble torn area. SSP Deepak Kumar said that 10 people have been arrested for the violence and two FIRs have been registered. Another report from Agra confirmed that violence started in Mira Hussaini bridge in Nai Ki Mandi area when two communities clashed on Sunday evening. Both groups also fired on each other in which a youth sustained critical bullet injuries while 10 others were injured in stone pelting.
The dispute occur after some people of other community objected on the height of the cut-out. SSP Agra, Rajesh Modak claimed that the situation was under control and heavy police force has been deployed to avert any further clash.
