A teenage couple ended their lives by jumping in front of a train, ostensibly due to stiff resistance to their affair from their respective families in Prem Nagar area of Jhansi on Wednesday.

As per reports, Sonu Pal of Ballampur village in Premnagar police station area, was having a love affair with his neighbour Karishma Pal for the last one year. Both wanted to tie the knot and grow old with each other. But when the families learnt about the affair, they vociferously opposed it.

Despite the couple being from the same caste, their family members were not ready to accept their affair.

On Wednesday morning, the couple reached the railway tracks and jumped in front of an oncoming train to end their lives. The police registered a case and sent both the bodies for post-mortem examination.
