Take precautionary measures against Covid: CPI to govt

The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Wednesday asked the state government to take precautionary measures in wake of anticipated third wave of COVID-19.

CPI state secretary Dr Girish in a statement said danger of spread of coronavirus was increasing every day but the government was busy in election preparations.

“Last time, we lost several of us due to complacent attitude and carelessness of the Union and state governments as there was scarcity of beds, oxygen and doctors at hospitals. The government hospital had turned into death dens. But the government audaciously claimed that no person died in the lack of oxygen or treatment,’ he said.

He alleged that the state government did not improve the health services despite the huge loss of human lives in the second wave of COVID-19.

“There are huge vacancies of doctors, staff nurses and paramedic staff at government hospitals in Uttar Pradesh,” he pointed out.

The CPI leader said when the coronavirus was raising its head and the number of patients infected with the new variant Omicron was increasing, the government was ordering to reserve the available beds to meet the exigency instead of making arrangements of medical facilities.
