Minister of state for Agriculture Export Swati Singh was taken ill during a review meeting of UP State Krishi Utpadan Mandi Parishad which was being chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in luicknow on Tuesday.
The meeting, held at the Chief Minister’s secretariat, was disrupted for some time after the minister complained of uneasiness.
Doctors were immediately called and the minister was advised bed rest. The minister has been touring the state at the height of summers to inspect functioning of Mandi Parishads at district level. She has been suffering from blood pressure. During the last one month, Swati Singh has been in news for the wrong reasons. First, she hit the headlines for inaugurating a beer pub and restaurant along with two IPS officers at Gomti nagar on May 20. The incident caused considerable consternation to the Yogi government and the Chief Minister even sought an explanation from her. The incident armed the Opposition to target the BJP regime and the Samajwadi Party even demanded her dismissal from the council of ministers. later, Singh hit the headlines for allegedly distributing cash during a community feast on Bada Mangal at the office of lucknow Development Authority.
The BJP had however defended the minister saying no cash was distributed and the minister only followed the ritual of offering ‘dakshina’ after the pooja.
During the `Connect with Nature’ programme organised on World Environment Day on June 5, Swati Singh was not allowed to share the dais with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. All other ministers present in the programme were seated on the stage while Singh sat among the audience
