Uttar Pradesh Minister for Agriculture Export and Women and Child development  Swati Singh once again stirred a controversy when she distributed Rs 100 currency note along with poori sabzi during a bhandara organised by her in Sarojininagar on Tuesday. As the news spread that the minister was distributing Rs 100 along with poori-sabzi people thronged the pandal which was organised outside her legislature office. Initially she distributed Rs 100 but as the crowed swelled she continued distributing traditional poori and sabzi. “There is nothing wrong in giving Rs 100 as dakshina to poor people. It is not government money but my hard earned money,” she told a group of reporters here on Tuesday. The bhandara was organised on the last day of Bada Mangal.

The opposition has however castigated Minister for distributing money in the bhandara. “The minister should explain as from where she got this money,” SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhry said. Earlier, the Minister had created controversy when she was found inaugurating a beer bar in Gomti Nagar. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had sought clarification from her. She went and gave her clarification but seems she has failed to build bridge with CM because yesterday in a function held on World Environment day she was not allowed to share dias with CM. Singh entered politics just around year ago when she was forced to sit on dharna after  BSP launched massive agitation against her family when her husband Dayanshaker gave some derogatory statement against Mayawati. later, the BSP president was on the back foot due to the aggressive politics of  Singh and she became a political leader overnight. She contested the assembly polls and won from the Sarojninagar seat in the state capital.
