Taking the outcome of a poll survey in his stride Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that the survey has in fact helped Samajwadi Party as it has given a wake up call to the workers who are now working with more vigour.
“Assembly elections are slated for West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. But a channel carried out poll survey of UP, which will go to polls in 2017. This shows the intention behind this survey. One thing is sure – the survey has helped us and has given us a wake up call,” Yadav told reporters in Etawah on Tuesday.
He said that the survey has shown Samajwadi Party on third position. This has given us time to revisit our strategy and revise our policies. We can now discuss our drawbacks and try to overcome them. “The best part of the survey was it has given a new energy among the young cadre of Samajwadi Party. The frontal organisation is working hard and is reaching to masses in large way,” Chief Minister said.
A recent survey by a news channel has predicted hung assembly in UP with BSP getting lion share followed by BJP. SP is third and Congress fourth. The survey said proposed grand alliance in UP will be a non-starter.
“The Samajwadi Party Government has done a lot for people. If our achievements are compared with previous governments people will see the difference and will vote for us. We are not getting support from the Centre, still my government is implementing policies that are benefiting both urban and rural population,” Yadav, who is also state president of the party, said.
When asked about selection of candidates for 2017 assembly elections Yadav said that national president of the party Mulayam Singh Yadav was dealing with it. “I have no say in candidate selection. Please do not ask me any question regarding this,” he said adding: “I can only say this much that we have made a good beginning.”.
Earlier in the day Chief Minister inspected lion Safari project. He declared that Central Zoo Authority has accepted state government’s proposal to set up safaris for bear and deer. The work will start on these projects soon, he said.
“The Samajwadi Party Government has changed the face of Etawah. Earlier Etawah was famous for dacoits and Chambal but now people talk about lion safari. We hope to open it for public by the end of this year,” he said. also inspected newly constructed Astroturf ground in sports stadium
