The local Body elections in Uttar Pradesh will start from November 22 and will continue till November 29. The results will be declared on December 1.

In his communication Agarwal said that in view of on-going local Body elections it is not possible to provide security in the state –run colleges and affiliated universities where student union elections are proposed. If elections are allowed this might create law and order problem in the absence of proper security. So, the government has decided to postpone the election, he said.

He, however, did not specify as when the elections will be held but said that the decision regarding elections will be taken later.

Incidentally, BJP‘s youth wing has suffered defeat in the elections held in some of tye universities like Allahabad, Gorakhpur and Varanasi where Samajwadi Party’s youth wing Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha swept the university elections. Only in Agra University ABVP is able to grab prominent seats.
