Strong action against accuse misusing social sites : PM

Published on:

Within a fortnight of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s serious cognizance over misuse of social sites to disturb communal harmony in the State, the officials at his wife Dimple Yadav’s Parliamentary constituency in Kannauj, responded positively. They booked one of the accused under the National Security Act, and became first district in the State which took the strongest action against any accused misusing social sites.

Briefing the media persons here on Wednesday evening, IG (law and order), A Satish Ganesh said that district police chief of Kannauj, Nidhi Naithani and district magistrate, Anuj Kumar Jha, in their joint report had imposed NSA on Saurabh Agarwal, a native of Gursahaiganj. The move was made as Saurabhh had uploaded objectionable message on social networking site `Whatsapp’ earlier this month.

It may be mentioned that just a day after the Kannauj incident, another youth pasted objectionable remarks which led to communal clash in Agra. Soon after this message, chief minister directed state police chief, Jagmohan Yadav to provide a `platform’ through which anyone could pass on information of such mischief and later necessary action could be taken.

Interestingly, minutes after chief minister’s concern, DGP office which is sleeping so far on the matter, had issued number (9454401002)through an official communiqué. DGO office claimed that anyone who had information of someone uploading objectionable message of social networking sites, he/she must immediately inform it on above given Whatsapp number. The release mentioned that the senders name would be kept confidential and immediate action should be taken to take necessary measures.
