Aiming to set the house in order, senior SP leader Shivpal Singh Yadav asserted that the party will take strict action against leaders who disobeyed the leadership during the recent Panchayat elections.
“Disobedience will not be tolerated any more. There are reports that several leaders transfressed the party line to field their kin and candidates in the recent polls. These acts call for action,” Yadav said on Wednesday.
He said that it was strange that the party had issued orders asking leaders not to field their kin without approval, yet many of themwent ahead and fielded candidates. “What is most astounding is that many MlAs / MlCs shelved party directives and went ahead with plans propelled by vested interests. We are waiting for the Panchayat polls to be over and then the leadership will take stringent action against the errants,” he said.
Recently the party had suspended MlA from Sitapur, Ram Pal Yadav from the legislature body and sacked his son from the party for anti-party activities. The MlA had fielded his son as candidate for Zila Panchayat Chief’s post. Similarly, a dozen office-bearers were also shown thhe door in the last fortnight for anti-party activity.
In Mirzapur SP leader Poonam Patel joined the BSP after being denied a Zila Panchaya ticket which was given to Paro Yadav. In Maharajganj, rival factions of SP workers clashed over nomination of Jitendra Yadav as the party candidate.
Shibpal Yadav further said that the party has so far won 36 of the 75 posts unopposed in the Zila Panchayat polls which was an indicator of the popularity of the government.
