The stray tigress of Moradabad is in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The pug marks of the tigress were seen last on Wednesday besides the river in Sahuwallah which comes in Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile a joint meeting was held in Kalagarh on Thursday which had senior officials of the forest department from both states Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand attending the meeting decided on extending help at the ground levels to each other for trapping the tigress. This will encompass a joint physical exercise.
A senior forest who is a part of the team involved in the tiger operations while giving the details to "The Pioneer" on Friday said on conditions of anonymity that the tigress is prowling on the side of Uttar Pradesh. "The last pug marks were traced near the river in Sahuwallah which were that of the tigress. The fringe of the forest of Najibabad is a 240 kilometres area which has to be combed to trap the tigress which is not an easy task because beyond this lies the whole spread of the Corbett Park. A joint effective coordination is important" he said.
He said that the Thursday meeting at Kalagarh was attended by DFO Najibabad, DFO Moradabad, SDO Bijnore, SDO Kalagarh, Deputy Director Corbett and Field Conservator Moradabad. "We are in the process of forming a Joint team which will consist of the officials from both side and when required help can be sought from each other. Till now we had been working in separate compartments but with this we will be working as a joint physical team on the ground" said the senior official
He said that the joint team will be having two heads from the sides of the state. " There will be two heads and we are also working out on the modalities of the team" he said. It may be recalled that there were three teams which are working on the side of Uttar Pradesh and three teams working on the side of Kalagarh to trace the tigress. The hot chase for the tigress has been continuing for the past two months but to no avail as the maneater has successfully evaded the staff in pursuit. The last kill was made in Uttar Pradesh on Feburary 6 while in Kalagarh on Feburary 9 which was attributed to a male tiger.
