Sleuths of the Anti-Terrorists Squad claimed to have arrested half-a-dozen Bangladeshis from Agra who were allegedly facilitating fake passports and other domicile certificates to Bangladesh nationals.
A case was registered and the arrested Bangladeshis were grilled to find out how they came to India, how they procured Aadhaar card and other Indian domicile documents and passport and why they travelled to Pakistan border.
Disclosing this, IG (ATS) Aseem Arun said that they were getting information that some Bangladeshis were coming to Uttar Pradesh and also calling other Bangladesh nationals and helping them in procuring local identity cards, including Aadhaar card and even passports.
He said the STF developed the information and finally a team arrested half-a-dozen Bangladeshi from Cantonment railway station in Agra on Monday morning.
On taking search, the STF sleuths recovered Aadhaar cards and other documents from the possession of the Bangladeshis which indicated that they were involved in providing fake Indian passports.
The arrested men were identified as Habibur Rehman, Zakir Hussain, Mohammed Qabil, Kamaluddin, Taizul Islam and Liten Miya, all natives of Bangladesh.
Kumar said that electronic surveillance pointed that the arrested men also visited Pakistan border in Punjab and Rajasthan.
Interrogations are on.
