Special Task Force (STF), Noida of UP nabbed a rewarded criminal from Muzaffarnagar district on Sunday.
The miscreant arrested was identified as Sumit of Bhopa police station area of Muzaffarnagar. He owned up his crime of circulating porn video clip that he filmed on an innocent woman in Saharanpur and later had uploaded on internet.
The incident came to light when a Hyderabad based NGO filed a writ petition at Supreme Court on January 27, 2015 requesting the apex court to assign CBI to probe the case. The petitioner had submitted 12 porn clips filmed on some innocent woman before the court. Taking cognizance of the petition, the apex court asked the CBI to probe the case.
In the case, the identity of the victim was unknown and CBI ascertained the identity of the miscreant who was behind the heinous act. But the probe could not be advanced further as the CBI despite strenuous efforts failed to ascertain the identity of the miscreant.
A couple of months later, CBI announced an award of Rs 1 lakh and also published the photograph of the suspect in newspapers. But, CBI did not get any headway in ascertaining the identity of miscreant. CBI then asked help form STF, UP.
Following the request, a team was assigned the task. Based on the input of an informer the police laid a trap near his house and nabbed him. When the miscreant was interrogated he owned up his crime and disclosed the name of his aides who uploaded the video clip on internet. On the information, a joint team of CBI and STF nabbed Sanajy, Neeraj Kumar, Anuj, Vinod and Rajendra, all of Badgaon police station area of Saharanpur district. They were later handed over to the CBI which took them along with them for further course of action.
